Xbox Game Pass price (October 2026) and how to cancel
Xbox Game Pass costs $9.99/month (Essential), $14.99/month (Premium), $22.99/month (Ultimate) and $13.99/month (PC Game Pass) in the US. Microsoft cut the Ultimate and PC prices in April 2026.
To cancel, go to account.microsoft.com/services, find Game Pass, choose Manage > Cancel subscription. You keep playing until the end of the paid period.
Game Pass tiers were reshuffled in late 2025 and prices adjusted again in April 2026. If you mostly play one game online, Essential is enough; Ultimate pays off only if you regularly play new releases.

How to cancel Xbox Game Pass
On the web
- Go to account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the account that pays.
- Find your Game Pass subscription and select Manage.
- Select Cancel subscription (or Turn off recurring billing).
- Choose to end at the next billing date, or end now for a possible prorated refund if offered, and confirm.
On an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One
- Press the Xbox button and go to Profile & system > Settings.
- Select Account > Subscriptions.
- Select Game Pass and choose Manage > Cancel (the console may open the web page).
On a Windows PC
- Open the Xbox app, click your profile picture > Settings > Account > Subscriptions.
- Choose Manage to open the Microsoft account page, then follow the web steps.
Refunds
When you cancel, Microsoft lets you choose to stop at the end of the current period (no refund, keep playing) or, for some subscriptions, end immediately with a prorated refund. If your recent renewal was accidental, contact Xbox Support - Microsoft reviews refunds case by case.
What happens to your games and saves
Games from the Game Pass library stop launching when the subscription ends. Your save data stays in the cloud, and Microsoft offers a discount if you buy a Game Pass game while subscribed. Online multiplayer on console requires at least Essential.

- Downgrade to Essential or Premium instead of cancelling.
- Buy prepaid Game Pass cards when they're on sale at retailers.
- Microsoft Rewards points can be redeemed toward Game Pass.
